Garey Williams
Garey Williams is a performing artist with unique abilities as a drummer and percussionist. With over twenty years of playing experience, Garey has performed as a solo percussionist, with chamber percussion groups, has been a guest soloist, clinician, adjudicator, recorded for radio and television and has appeared in concert with many local, regional and internationally known musicians such as: Bud Shank, Barney McClure, Howard Roberts, Joe Williams, Clay Jenkins and Dizzy Gillespie. Born in Laurence, Kansas, eventually settling in the Northwest, Garey began playing drums at age twelve, studying music throughout his school years, which led him to earn both a Bachelor and Masters degree in Percussion Performance and Jazz Studies at Central Washington University. Garey has over fifteen years teaching experience, is the author of two method books, Drumset Essentials: Book One, Drumset Essentials: Book Two and has been published in Modern Drummer, Percussive Notes and Band World.

Currently, Garey just released a CD, Spellbound, with the instrumental jazz/fusion group, Ecstasy in Numbers and is doing various commercial and freelance recording and performing projects. Garey is actively involved with the Education Seminars in Percussion program sponsored by Vic Firth sticks/mallets and Sabian cymbals. Mr. Williams teaches drumset and percussion at Central Washington University and maintains a private teaching studio of forty students a week. Garey also endorses RJS Custom Percussion drums and Axis pedals.

In addition to music, Garey enjoys gardening, reading, cooking and the small town family life with his wife and children.
